Occupation overview

Two disciplines, one farm.

The mixed farmer combines crop cultivation with animal husbandry — managing both plant production and livestock, and bringing the resulting agricultural products to market.

  • Crop production. Prepares soil, applies fertilisers, sows, cares for and harvests field, vegetable and fodder crops.
  • Animal husbandry. Prepares shelters, feeds, grooms, manages reproduction, marks and cares for livestock to welfare standard.
  • Farm management. Organises production workflow, manages commercial activities, promotes products and trains farm workers.
  • Compliance. Applies OHS norms, environmental protection standards and animal welfare regulations across all farm activities.
Access requirement. Compulsory general education completed. No special conditions required — the programme is built for candidates entering agriculture without prior formal training.
